RURAL OPERATIONS

This course will give you the skills and knowledge relevant to the agriculture, horticulture, conservation and land management industries. You may also be eligible to attain a certificate in work health and safety, chainsaw operation, fire training, AusChem, ladder use and small machinery..

WORK HEALTH & SAFTEY

This course will provide you with an extensive understanding of the work health and safety (WHS) skills required to administer various work health and safety functions within your industry. You will learn to interpret WHS legislation in order to produce a legal framework, establish and maintain WHS quality systems, lead and induct WHS staff and contractors, respond to WHS incidents and claims and learn how to introduce environmentally sustainable practices to the workplace.

Full Farm Chemical User (SHORT Course)

This course will provide you on essential training on chemical use within the horticultural, viticultural & agricultural industries. You’ll learn about the transportation, handling, storage, preparation and application of liquid chemical mixes and/or granular products for the control of weeds, pests and diseases within your industry.

It is also a requirement for any farm owner who is seeking to apply for the Victorian Agricultural Chemical Users Permit.

FARM CHEMICAL REFRESHER
(SHORT COURSE)

This course is for those people who have already completed the full Farm Chemical Users Certificate. It is recommended that people undertake a refresher course to keep up to date with changes & technology, safety practices and government regulations.

If you are an experienced farm owner or have extensive experience in the horticultural, agricultural or viticultural industry, you may be eligible to receive credits towards part of or the full amount of a qualification.

If you think you might meet the requirements for a skills recognition, we suggest letting us know prior to enrolling in your desired course.

The skills recognition process works via the following two options:

  • Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
